Talking Floor Series 001 and Love International memories with Adam Curtain…

With Floor Series 001 - the first release on our newest imprint that takes a more dancefloor focused approach - now out in the wild and available for purchase. We stopped by to chat to Adam Curtain, who stepped up to deliver the inaugural EP on Floor Series.

An artist focused on flexing the boundaries of UK club music, he has been gathering steam as a nifty selector and talented producer. A familiar face on both sides of the booth at Love International, Adam gave us an insight into the inspiration behind the release along with some of his personal Tisno highlights over the years.

LI: You’ve been coming to Love International since the festival first started 10 years ago. How have you seen things evolve over that time?

AC: It was a little more stripped back and simple 10 years ago, but the sound, crowd, atmosphere & mentality remains the same. It's infectious.

I think I've seen it rain twice in the ten years, which is also amazing, so you're guaranteed a holiday too and not just a festival. You can't beat "Tisneyland" it's my favourite place on the planet!

LI: It would be fair to say you’re a familiar face both behind the booth and on the dance floor in Tisno. What have been some key moments over the years you can remember?

AC: The first time I stepped foot into Barbarellas it blew my socks clean off. I'd heard a lot about it being "the best club in the world" and it didn't disappoint! I've had some really really memorable moments in there, both times I've seen Craig n Ben UFO b2b in there have been unreal, DJ Harvey in there was also extremely special.

Hearing my tracks played out and feeling the reaction at the festival is also incredible, they translate really well there...being surrounded by your best mates off your chops too, it's a great feeling haha.

LI: It’s a real pleasure you put out Sculptures and Snakes on our new imprint - Love International Floor Series. It has been getting a lot of love by fellow DJs across clubs and festivals this summer which is great to see. What was the inspiration behind the EP?

AC: Thanks, it meant so much to me to have that full circle moment, from coming to the very first Love International to releasing the first record on the label, it's a real honour!

I actually came up with the idea the day I got back from Houghton a couple of years ago, I just had these gnarly basslines floating around in my head and had found this incredible vocal around the same time that I just had to use, so yeah the magic was still living in my hazy mind from the festival and I managed to translate that (somehow!) into the A1 - Sculptures & Snakes.

LI: There is a very unique sound to your productions. What is an essential ‘Adam Curtain’ piece of studio kit?

AC: I'm a massive fan of the Moog Dfam, it's a percussion synthesizer, but I just it to make weird squelches, squeeks and bleeps predominantly... sshhh!

LI: What is a vital piece of advice for someone coming to Tisno for the first time?

AC: Come with a smile, respect the locals, bring a hat & make memories with your mates.

Floor Series 001 is out now and available to buy via our Bandcamp.
